  1. Actually if you are not fashion conscious, you will not
able to realize the actual necessity of a designer watch.
Of course the more you can afford to own the better.

And they will start showing it off to everyone you know.

  4. Avoid the area called HUNTERS POINT. It is near Candlestick
Park. Depending on your sexual orientation, there is an area called the
Castro and it is the gay area. Great areas include the Nob Hill area and Twin
Peaks. Pacific Heights is very nice. The area on the West
Central part of the city, South of Golden Gate Park and getting near
the ocean is less expensive and still nice ... called the Sunset District.
However, it is the area that gets the most fog and stays the coolest (sometimes cold).
. . The main street that runs South out of Golden GAte Park is 19th AVe.
It goes down past San Francisco State University.
The areas around SFSU and just East of 19th are real nice.
19th Ave runs into a regional Interstate (I-280) and 280 runs
down the Peninsula to San Jose. On the way, you go through Daly City which border SF on the South.
Daly City is nice as long as you are in the hills.
. . Many people like to live in the East Bay and commute
in. BART train, although a bit costly, is a great way to get into
the City and not pay hefty parking lot fees ($20-$30/day).
The Bay Bridge is $5 for single drivers and $2 or $3 for carpools
of 3 people. Oakland is a GEM of a city as long as you
live near the hills. Berkeley and Emeryville are also excellent places to live.
The cost of housing in the East Bay is less than in SF and, many times,
the lower rent makes the cost of commuting worthwhile. The East Bay also has incredible weather (I think the best anywhere).
. . Be ready for "sticker shock" when renting.

SF is comparable to NYC. I've a friend who rents out a duplex in Oakland ... one bedroom in each unit and each unit is around 725 sq ft ... she gets around $1650/mo for each unit (both are currently rented) and in that price range her fee is very reasonable for very nice units.
